Here, as reported by Ukrainian media, there were about 200 protesters. Among them was seen the leader of the Radical Party, Oleg Lyashko. However, different groups of people here have different claims.
Some are holding posters with portraits of a number of deputies of the Verkhovna Rada and require lustration, others are demanding the resignation of the Kharkiv City Council and the mayor of Kharkiv Gennady Kernes: they have recently caused Facebook hysterics even for the Interior Minister Arsen Avakov. Also there are a lot of young people here with flags of Ukraine – they are beating the drums and chanting already traditional (not always censorial) “chants.”
Among those present by the building there are also many relatives of the fighters of so-called ATO, who are demanding from the authorities an urgent rotation of those fighting in eastern Ukraine.
The protesters brought with them a makeshift guillotine that is hanging over the coat of arms of Ukraine, reports the Ukrainian portal Korrespondent.net and published a video from the location:
The parliament building is guarded by around 100 soldiers form the battalion “Kyiv-1,” notes the “Ukrainian Truth”. Also, as reported by the Member of Parliament Lesia Orobets, the security guards for the first time since February 21 were given out machine guns.
