At the same time, the US State Department said that Hollande-Merkel plan “in general” corresponds with the Minsk Agreements. “The only difference is that it contains more specific implementation details and provides more time to implement the road map,” – quotes Reuters the statement by a senior official of the Foreign Ministry. At the same time, the State Department questioned the possibility of the successful implementation of the document.

On Thursday, February 5, in Kiev, the negotiations between Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande took place. From the Ukrainian capital the leaders of Germany and France went to Moscow, where they discussed ways to resolve the crisis in Ukraine with the Russian President Vladimir Putin. In both cases, the negotiations were held behind closed doors for the press, and there have been no statements so far on the results of their meetings from the parties.

On February 7, Hollande said that the peace plan involves the creation of an extended demilitarized zone – 50 to 70 kilometers wide. As expected, the results of the negotiations in Kiev and Moscow will be announced on February 8 during a telephone conversation in the “Norman format” (Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France).
