In 2014, the United States increased their oil production by half a million barrels per day to 11.81 million. Russia has increased this figure by 50 thousand barrels per day to 10.93 million. The IEA predicts that the gap between the two countries will continue to increase until 2020. It is expected that by that time the Russian Federation will be producing 10.37 million barrels a day, and the US – 13.96 million. Agency predicts that rapid growth will come from production of shale oil.
The IEA report states that Russia will reduce the volume of oil production by 560,000 barrels per day. A year earlier, they projected growth by 200 thousand barrels.
On January 19, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said that Russian authorities do not see any large risks of the declining oil production in the country, if the price of oil will remain at the level of 50-60 dollars per barrel. The official noted that the government is discussing with companies various measures to maintain production volumes.
