Rescuers continue working at the accident site in Taiwan where the plane crashed into the river. According to recent reports, 35 people were killed in the tragedy. Another 15 are in hospital in serious condition.
There were 53 passengers on board, including two children and about three dozen tourists from the Chinese city of Xiamen. They were all flying from Taipei to Kinmen archipelago located in the Taiwan Strait.
The cause of the catastrophe could be bad weather conditions. The aircraft was less than a year old – it was manufactured in April of 2014, and it passed the last maintenance check on January 26, reports DPA.
Let us remind you that last year in Taiwan another TransAsia aircraft crashed. The pilot was unable to land the plane on the first attempt and he told dispatchers that he was going for the second round before they lost contact with the plane. Ground services assure that the visibility was within the acceptable norm – 1.5 km. Plus, shortly before the crash two other aircrafts managed to land. That crash killed 47 people.
