The reconnaissance aircraft Dornier Do 228 made a staff night flight when the airport manager in Goa lost contact with him. Nearest Indian Navy ships were immediately sent to the point of the incident. They have found the wreckages of the plane, and local fishermen reported the militaries that have picked up the pilot Nikila Joshi. He was taken to a military hospital. The fate of two other crew members remains unknown.
Dornier Do 228 is a twin-engine plane, produced by the German company Dornier GmbH from 1981 till 1998. It is used both in civil aviation, where it mainly serves domestic flights, and Air Force and navy aviation, where it mainly serves other countries. There were 26 Do 228 that served in the Indian Navy until recently, which were used primarily as reconnaissance aircrafts.
