Exports of Chinese products to Russia have decreased by 42.1 percent – down to 17.3 billion yuan (2.8 billion dollars), imports of products from the Russian Federation for the same period have decreased by 28.7 percent – down to 15.9 billion yuan (2.5 billion dollars).
The total volume of foreign trade of China in January fell by 10.8 percent – down to 2.09 trillion yuan (334.6 billion dollars). This situation is explained by the Customs agency by upcoming Chinese New Year, which is accompanied by long holidays.
At the moment, China is the largest trading partner of Russia. The Russian Federation in terms of trade volume is ranked ninth among China partners. In 2014, the trade volume between the two countries increased by 6.8 percent to 95.28 billion dollars. In May 2014, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that Russia wants to double the trade flow with China by 2020 – to up to 200 billion dollars.
